Amazing tour!!! Breathtaking beauty - so much to see and all of it just so enchanting. Tim was again a wonderful guide (we were lucky enough to also have him as our guide the day before on the half day Beatrix Potter tour). The depth and breadth of his knowledge about the area is amazing. He skillfully narrated our day through innumerable stops at amazing locations. I’d go again in a heartbeat! Tim, our driver/guide, was full of stories and history of The Lake District. He took us to out of the way places that I’m sure we would have never found on our own. He was able to get us on a boat on one of the lakes and met us at the next village which made our day even more eventful and fun. I would recommend this to anyone who is thinking about going to this lovely area of the UK! Thanks, Tim, for a most memorable journey. I’ll be in touch for next spring.

We saw more of the Lakes District than we ever thought we would during our short stay thanks to Tim who took us to places of magnificent beauty and regailed us with just enough history and fun stories to keep us interested. The minibus was very comfortable and the sound system was really worthwhile. You could hear every word Tim said. It was also nice to have charging cables available for common smartphones etc. Tim made the day relaxed and enabled all the guests to get to know one another. Small suggestion would be to have bottled water available in the minibus for guests. All in all a fabulous day seeing all the wonders the Lakes District has to offer especially in the little known hard to get to places.

We met Tim, our tour guide at the Windermere train station at 9:30. After traveling for the past week, we were glad that the tour didn’t start too early. We were driven in a minivan and there were only 3 of us on the tour (off season, late October). The small vehicle and number of tourists allowed us to get a lot of individual attention, questions answered, and help in and out of the vehicle. The scenery was spectacular, narration very informative, and we were able to stop and take pictures all along the way. We made a stop at Castlerigg Stone Circle and saw some lovely English countryside. Tim even stopped in Grasmere so we could purchase Sarah Nelson’s original gingerbread, a local favorite. If you go there, also purchase some ginger and raspberry marshmallows. They were delightful and I wish I bought more. Tim even dropped us back at our hotel on the way back to the train station. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. You won’t be disappointed with this tour!

Ultimate is the correct word. I am so happy we scheduled this amazing tour. We saw so much in one day. Places and vistas we would never get to see on our own. Tim was amazing. His education and background was perfect and enhanced our experience immensely. I am so grateful to him for his time and patience navigating the many challenges, people, cars, roads, etc. I could relax knowing an expert was guiding us. The best thing is not having the extra worry or care -do we know how to get there? Will our car fit? What if there is a problem? Excellent way to see the Lake District. He made our all-day tour go by quickly as he provided us with a great deal of information about the people and places in the Lake District. The stops along the way offered more than ample opportunities for a rest/stretch/lunch break. He also entertained us with his several observations and anecdotes about the area, the people and the sheep, which we all really enjoyed! We had much fun & highly recommend this tour. So if it's at all possible, ask for TIM!

He answered everyone’s questions and is a very good driver too. The vehicle was spacious, clean and had good air conditioning and speakers in the back, so we could communicate with the driver. There was a transparent screen petition between the driver and the occupants of the car, to protect us all from Covid. There was hand sanitizer in the car, and the seats were all covered with washable covers. Bought some famous gingerbread at Grasmere, where William Wordsworth is buried.

Gillian regaled us with loads of insights and interesting details of the landscape, history, animals (pay attention to the sheep names; you may have a pop quiz!) and historic figures who populated the area! Sandra's expert driving assured us we were in good hands on the incredibly narrow roads and we (and the comfy van) made it back without a scratch! This is a great tour to see a lot in a day and be introduced to the Lake District. Ours was a small group, six people, and Gillian, our guide, and Tim, our driver were warm and welcoming. They made the day and took an interest in getting to know us and highlighting the points in which we were most interested. For me, that was about the writers associated with the area. I appreciated the small group and the frequent stops and opportunities to get out and walk about. Early on we took the steamer on Ullswater and after lunch we took a little stroll along Derwent Water. Gillian kept us moving, but I never felt rushed. I thoroughly enjoyed taking in the scenery and chatting with Gillian and Tim throughout the day. A big plus for me was not being routed through tourist shops all day. Each stop seemed purposeful for seeing something of interest and not just an excuse to encourage us to spend money in the shops, as happens on some tours. Had I more time I would have gladly booked another tour with Gillian and Tim. This one was leisurely, informative, and a truly delightful experience. Be prepared for wet and cool weather, and wear a good pair of walking shoes. They did have umbrellas to borrow if you didn’t bring your own.

This tour was by far the highlight of my trip to the lakes ( I've travelled a good few times before). Tim is certainly worthy of all the praise given to him in previous reviews. This man obviously loves his job and the lakes and it shows; that's priceless actually. After several hours of taking in magical landscapes and views of the lakes, myself and the others in my group were blissfully knackered and a few fell asleep, but Tim's enthusiasm for sharing his passion for the area ( along with his light- a- room- up smile) woke us up! The cruise was incredible. I imagine I'll book to do this tour again with family the next time I visit. Thank you

We visited so much, and everything wasn't rushed (apart from grabbing the gingerbread from Grasmere while we had literally 2 minutes before the shop shut!) (we made it, don't worry). Our guide was so professional, yet informal and friendly. He tolerated me so well! Being with a small group made it so much more enjoyable, too. The van was the right size and the aircon was lovely! Please don't hold back in regards to this tour! Go for it and you'll love it (you'll certainly sleep well).

Despite the less than ideal weather ( rained most of the day) Tim ensured we saw everything of importance & gained a true appreciation of the history of the area & the beauty of the ever changing scenery . Tim was an excellent guide - friendly , erudite & a fantastic driver on the amazingly narrow roads / lanes we traversed . It's a full day, no drinks or snacks included (bring your own) and we had time in Keswick to buy our own lunch. Comfortable van (nice and warm on the cold day we were there) and good audio. Tim took us to places we never would have found ourselves, little narrow back roads with beautiful views. Lots of information and I don't think there was a question Tim couldn't answer. This tour was one I was really keen to book and I wasn't disappointed. Highly recommended.

We booked this tour over Easter on a recommendation from some friends of ours who had been on several tours with this company before the Pandemic and we were not disappointed. It was one spectacular view after another and everyone on the bus couldn't stop saying wow when we stopped to take photos. We had a bit of everything, a nice bus with air con and leads for phone recharging, a boat trip down Ullswater lake, a really nice guide, very competent driver and loads of fabulous scenery. Would love to do it again at a different time of year, perhaps Autumn.

My wife and I had the best experience with English Lakes Tours! We had a beautiful and sunny Saturday. Our driver, Sandra did a marvelous job of driving through the countryside in some very tight and challenging spots which was one of main reasons we opted to do a tour versus drive ourselves. We could focus on the sights, the commentary, take pictures, etc…as opposed to the very busy and attentive hassles of driving. Our tour guide, Gillian also did a marvelous job of sharing and explaining her wealth of knowledge of the area. Her passion and genuine storytelling really comes through. We found Sandra and Gillian were extremely friendly and accommodating while keeping us on track to see the many sights to be seen. We highly recommend this experience and look forward to doing future other tours they provide!

Smaller group/minibus and great local knowledge meant we could go along the smaller roads and tracks and see more interesting areas, and pull into small lay-byes for photo opportunities unlike the coach sized tours. Would recommend it as a great day out. Guide was knowledgeable but never boring, with lots of humour and fun. Driver was excellent and handled the smallest of roads and steepest of inclines without any bother. Great time, great trip.

Picked up, at Windermere Station, surprised that I was the only passenger. I was interested in learning a little about the area in which I was staying. What spectacular scenery! Tim was able to give me the geography behind the hills and the history going well back before the Romans. A relaxing cruise on one of the many waters, Ullswater, (I would call lakes). Because I expressed an interest in Potter, and Wordsworth the scenery included areas to which they occupied or wandered. UNESCO and National Heritage areas were shown, rules and regulation leading to a maintenance of wonderful, beautiful area. A wonderful day, thank you!

Our Tour Guide, Tim, met my wife and I at Oxenholme Station at the designated time, with a large and comfortable people carrier. Immediately, he made us feel excited about the day ahead of us as we drove towards the Lake District. Upon entrance to the Park, we felt like we were being transported to a magical time past. Tim regaled us with his exceptional knowledge of the history, at every stop of the trip. The Lakes and scenery are absolutely breathtaking, so remember to take lots of photographs for posterity. The day seemed to fly by and left us wanting to make a return visit, when the weather is warmer in the summer. We might try Glamping in Keswick, next time. We highly recommend this tour.

We did the full day tour recently and had a brilliant experience. We got a great overview of the Lake District - far more than if we toured on our own with our limited time availability. Tim and Jill were very experienced guides with a great knowledge of the area which was very helpful. They were also very friendly and gave us plenty of time at each stop. They cater for small groups and this meant that we got really personal attention. The boat trip on Ullswater was particularly enjoyable. Next time we're in the Lake District we'll definitely go on one of their other tours.
